With temperatures falling this week, it has been a little bit harder than usual to get out of bed in the morning. There have been days when we’ve been tempted to skip the gym and stay in the warmth of our beds… but we haven’t. Not because our fitness routine is always flawless, but because we know we feel better in every way when we keep on top of our training.
Here are a few of the things that help us to stay motivated:
- Train with a friend. We train in the gym together, which makes it a lot more sociable. It also means we’re accountable; for most people, you’ll be more likely to be at the gym at 6am if you plan to meet a friend there!
- Use trainers! At the moment we work with trainers in strength and conditioning classes at a local boxing gym and in football. They help us to improve our technique and to achieve our goals. It’s always satisfying to see progress and it’s a great motivator.
- Do something that helps you forget your worries. Recently, we’ve been adding some jiu jitsu into our routine. If you haven’t tried it you might be surprised to hear that a form of wrestling can be meditative, but give this a go once and you’ll realise that your mind is totally occupied when you’re involved in this type of combat. It’s a fantastic mental break, which is particularly important if you’ve had a stressful day or are going through a tough time.Â
- Have a treat at least once every week. After a week of eating Clean Cut Meals and exercising regularly we usually feel that we can break out and have a burger or a pizza at the weekend. We don’t think of it as a slip-up, but rather a reward that helps to keep us motivated (and sane) all week!
- Think about the big gains. No, we’re not talking about bulking up. We mean the benefits that exercise brings about in all areas of your life. We find that being fit and healthy carries over into everything we do, from work performance, to relationships and mental wellbeing. The feel good factor is the best motivator of all!
Good luck with all of your health and fitness goals. If we can help you in any way, get in touch. In the meantime, remember it’s only cold when you’re standing still, so get moving!
