SARAH MOLONEY’S 5 TIPS FOR LADIES FITNESS.
We recently caught up with Sarah Moloney – Sarstri for all you on Instagram – to get 5 tips for fitness for all our female followers! Sarah has over 30,000 fans on Instagram, for good reason. After winning her Pro Card in the WBFF federation, she’s developed a massive online following from delivering daily fitness tips & food ideas to keep you on track, in a sustainable manner.
TIP 1: KICKING OFF YOUR NEW REGIME.
“When starting a new fitness regime, I always recommend being slow about it rather than jumping into the deep end and trying to completely change your lifestyle in one day. Slowly make changes each week, and before long it will add up & it’ll become part of your daily regime!”
TIP 2: USE WEIGHTS
“Don’t be afraid of using weight in the gym. Start off with the resistance machines to begin with, until your comfortable enough to move into the free weights, such as the dumbbells and barbells. Cardio is a great way to burn calories & lose weight, but to change your shape and ‘tone’ your arms & legs you need to be weight-training!”
TIP 3: YOUR EATING HABITS.
“Food is to be enjoyed. If you are following a diet plan and you can’t stand the food you’re consuming on a regular basis, then you’re doing it all wrong. Dieting certainly doesn’t need to be miserable and it definitely doesn’t need to just contain salads. This mindset can lead to binging. Instead, look to build a healthy relationship with your food!”
TIP 4: CONSISTENCY IS KEY.
“Consistency is key to reaching any goal. If you are good throughout the week, and then blow it all at the weekend, it’s unlikely you’ll make any progress. Often you’ll be taking two step forward from Monday to Friday, and two steps back at the weekend! You can, and certainly should, enjoy your weekends out. However, be mindful with what you eat or drink. For example, swap for low calorie drinks such as gin and slimline tonic, or vodka & diet soda. There can be a lot of sugar contained in mixers & you can easily avoid these yet still enjoy the same quality of a night out!”
TIP 5: STEP COUNT.
“Keep an eye on your step count for the day. There are plenty of fitness apps that can help you track this, as does your iPhone. If you find your step count is super-low then seek to increase it gradually, until you’re hitting the 10,000 steps a day that’s recommended!”
